Ultrasound

An ultrasound is a procedure that uses high-frequency sound waves to view internal organs and produce images of the human body. As sound passes through the body it produces echoes, which can identify distance, size and shape of structures inside.

The ultrasound technologist will use an ultrasound probe with a conductive gel that is moved over the skin in the path of the vessel or organ being studied.
