A unique and innovative model
The Orléans Health Hub welcomes its first clients
Because of the safety measures still in place, access is currently limited to people with an appointment
Ottawa, June 24, 2021 - Nearly two years after the groundbreaking event, the Orléans Health Hub welcomed its first clients this morning, Thursday, June 24.
The state-of-the-art building, long awaited by the east-end community, opened its doors on schedule despite the pandemic that hit along the way.
As the Hub will open in two phases, the services available at this time are seniors' services, medical imaging, rehabilitation services, some mental health and wellness services, some specialty clinics, as well as care coordination and a mobility aids store.
Subsequently, a laboratory, some mental health and wellness services, additional medical imaging capacity, as well as Montfort's specialty clinics and a café will open this year.
The opening of the Hub must respect existing sanitary measures, and only clients and people with an appointment can come in at this time. An official opening will be held in the coming months.
What is the Orléans Health Hub?
Located at 2225 Mer-Bleue Road, at the corner of Brian Coburn, the Orléans Health Hub is a unique and innovative model that brings together a range of specialized and community-based care under one roof.
Residents of Ottawa's east end can benefit from a variety of integrated, needs-based programs, offered in both official languages and close to home, in a welcoming, nature-inspired environment. Parking is free for all and bus stops are nearby.
The Orléans Health Hub project is a partnership between Bruyère, Youth Services Bureau of Ottawa, CHEO, Eastern Ottawa Resource Centre, Hôpital Montfort, ParaMed, Ottawa Public Health, Geronto-Psychiatry Community Services of Ottawa and Home and Community Care Support Services Champlain.
A major fundraising campaign, led by the Montfort Foundation, will be launched shortly to support funding for the Hub.
For more information, the website theorleanshealthhub.com describes in detail all the programs and services offered at the Orléans Health Hub, and how to access them. All family physicians in the region can refer their patients to the Hub for community and specialty services.
